Babies Lobby Congress for Third Annual Strolling Thunder
Families from all 50 states arrived in DC this week for ZERO TO THREE’s third annual Strolling Thunder event. After a rally on the Capitol Lawn featuring speeches from policy experts, parents, and elected officials, hundreds of children and their families met with lawmakers to ask Congress to “Think Babies!” They spoke to their Members about what babies and their families need to thrive, including: quality, affordable child care, time for parents to bond with their babies, healthy emotional development, and strong physical health and nutrition.
FFYF is a national partner of Think Babies!, which is a campaign focused on making the potential of every baby a national priority. Research consistently shows the importance of the first years of a child’s life – particularly for healthy brain development and social & emotional support. Investments in quality early learning and care programs ensure that children have the opportunity to learn and grow in supportive environments so they are ready for kindergarten and beyond.
In recent years, Congress has recognized the importance of high-quality early learning and care, and has made bipartisan investments in federal programs that support the development of our youngest children.
