Today, First Five Years Fund Executive Director Sarah Rittling released the following statement after the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship passed Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Jackie Rosen’s (D-NV) bipartisan Small Business Child Care Investment Act:
“Finding reliable child care remains incredibly challenging for working families across the country. It’s more important than ever that Congress find innovative solutions that ensure early learning and care programs are available to all families.
“Non-profit child care providers offer a critical service to families across the country, but many often face barriers that prevent them from establishing or expanding care that has proven to have a positive impact on a young child’s development and future success in and out of the classroom.
“We are thankful to Senators Ernst and Rosen for their bipartisan work on this innovative bill to support small, non-profit child care providers and expand options so more children and families can find and afford the care they need. We are committed to working with Congress to get this legislation across the finish line.”
