Sarah Rubinfield
Sarah Rubinfield, Managing Director, Government Affairs for the First Five Year Fund, is a seasoned political and public policy professional with extensive legislative, communications, campaign, and coalition-building experience at the federal level. Rubinfield comes to FFYF after working on Capitol Hill for over 15 years, where she developed and implemented policy, political, and strategic efforts as Chief of Staff to Representatives Lois Capps and Raul Ruiz M.D. and had a proven record of achieving pragmatic, bipartisan solutions. Working for Members of the Energy and Commerce Committee and leading healthcare voices in Congress, Rubinfield shepherded the Members’ priorities during passage and implementation of key legislation such as the Affordable Care Act and the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act.
Earlier in her Congressional career, Rubinfield served as an education policy advisor for nine years to Representative Capps, during which she was lead staffer for the bipartisan Congressional School Health and Safety Caucus. Her deep commitment to ensuring every child has the best opportunity to succeed stems from her start on Capitol Hill as an intern for the late Senator Edward Kennedy on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.
Rubinfield holds a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA where she studied Political Science and Public Policy. Born in Lawrence, Kansas and raised on the Central Coast of California, Sarah now lives in Washington D.C. with her husband Adam and their young daughter.
